AFAN Holiday Toy Drive 2011
Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN)
has received an overwhelming amount of support from generous community partners and advocates this holiday season resulting in the 2011 toy drive being the most successful yet.

“We are absolutely thrilled by the support Las Vegas has shown during this holiday season,” said Patricia Saavedra, AFAN board president. “With the multitude of toy drives happening in December, we could not be more thankful for the turnout we received this year. Contributions from supporters, donors and passionate friends and volunteers does not go unnoticed and will truly deliver a joyous holiday season for the children.”

Now more than ever, AFAN relied on support from the community to help make the collection victorious. With more than 1,000 toys gifted, donors shattered last year’s earnings allowing for children (ages 0-15) that are effected and affected by HIV/AIDS in Southern Nevada to have a brighter holiday season.

Unique to this year, not only did AFAN have traditional drop off locations but the community came together to host gift back nights and collection events to raise the giving bar. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf offered consumer incentives as well as Light Group LGBT hosted a toy drive collection event at Revolution Lounge. Additional backing and an exuberant amount of donations were provided by Jamba Juice, Buffalo Exchange, WAX Hair Removal Bar, Nevada Democratic Headquarters, Furniture Market as well as MAC Cosmetics, Acts of Kindness, Caesars Entertainment Business Resource Group, Tropicana Hotel, Bremer, Whyte, Brown & O’Meara, LLP and St. Rose Pediatrics employees.

On Monday, December 19, more than 130 children will be invited to AFAN’s annual holiday party for festive games, seasonal treats and pictures with Santa Claus. During the family affair, floods of toys and goodies will be distributed to the young ones for an explosive finale to the afternoon.
