An Inside Look at Jason Egan’s “Official SAW Escape Experience” in Las Vegas

An Inside Look at Jason Egan's "Official SAW Escape Experience" in Las Vegas
Jason Egan
, the creator of the top-ranked Fright Dome attraction at Circus Circus in Las Vegas, has unveiled a new attraction based on Lionsgate’s blockbuster SAW movies. SAW is one of the most successful horror franchises ever, grossing nearly $1 billion at the worldwide box office. This year-round attraction recently held its grand opening and we got a sneak peek the night before.

I had a hard time finding this place at first because there is no “SAW-related” sign. The building at 2121 Industrial Blvd seems to be an old meat-packing house and the only clue is a neon sign that says “Egan & Co. Meat.”  Jason Egan explained that they found a large building and turned it into what appears to be an abandoned meat-packing factory. “It took us about 6 months to design and 6 months to build,” said Egan.

The attention to detail is incredible. If you are familiar with the SAW movies you’ll see rooms that look exactly like scenes from the films. Most people will instantly recognize the iconic SAW bathroom, for example, but you might be too freaked out to notice this during your adventure because you’ll be frantically trying to get out of each terrifying room. And it’s not just one room, you’ll have to figure out how to get through the twists and turns of the entire building. The “Official SAW Escape Experience” is one of the largest escape attractions in the world.

Rooms contain old butchering equipment, knives and hacksaws. The current occupants might be using them for more sinister purposes. There are huge rotting pig carcasses hanging from ceiling hooks. And there are plenty of real torture devices. This place is loaded with scary props from the mind of horror-master Jason Egan.

You’ll enter the attraction with a small group of other guests. Unlike the maze-like experience of a haunted house, each of the rooms present a problem with various traps and puzzles that must be solved in order to escape. You should examine all the horrifying objects because they may provide important clues to the solution. You and the other guests will have to work it out together to escape to the next room.

Unlike the Fright Dome which is full of live monsters and ghouls, you’ll interact with just one or two live actors. The ads for the “Official SAW Escape Experience” state that “you’ll go toe-to-toe with the notorious Jigsaw.” You’ll quickly find out what that means.
