Asi Peko Earns Spot on USA Junior National Team

Brown’s Gymnastics Las Vegas is proud to announce that local gymnast Asi Peko has earned a spot on the National Gymnastics Team by placing fourth at the Visa U.S. Championships in Boston on Saturday, June 7. Peko turned 14 years old at the Championships giving herself quite a birthday present! She received the silver medal on both vault and floor exercise and placed 10th on balance beam.

This summer is an Olympic year and gymnastics is the favorite sport of most fans. Although Peko is too young to be in this Olympic Games, her long term goal is to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. This year she will represent the USA at international meets all over the world. Brown’s Gymnastics owner and balance beam coach Dayna Isaacs-Waroe is very proud of Peko’s accomplishments and knows that the future holds much success for this very talented young athlete. While under his guidance, the Brazilian teams were the 10-time champions of the South American Games and two-time Pan American Games Gold medalists (1991 & 1995) in Havana and Mar del Plata. He also took the team to the World Cup finals in Indianapolis, Stuttgart and Sebago. His gymnasts competed in the Olympic Games in Seoul, Barcelona and Sydney. He choreagraphed the Brazilian National team routines for 15 years with two silver medals on floor in the World Cup. In 1996, Figueiredo assisted Coach Steve Nunno at Dynamo Gymnastics. He coached and choreographed Amanda Borden and Jaycee Phelps for the US Olympic Trials.
