Best Buddies Nevada and Miracle Mile Shops to Host The ‘Buddy Two Shoes’ Walk In Conjunction With Miss USA Pageant
The Buddy Two Shoes “Footsteps for Friendship” Walk will benefit Best Buddies of Nevada, with proceeds of the event utilized to help raise awareness, open more programs in schools and to send students to leadership conferences during the summer. The event is being held in conjunction with the Miss USA pageant, airing live on April 19th on NBC, with the 51 Miss USA contestants walking side-by-side with Best Buddies participants. The public is also encouraged to participate and support this great cause.
Walkers can learn more about the event and register at www.bestbuddiesnevada.org and clicking on the “Buddy Two Shoes” icon. While there is no required fee to participate, those who raise at least $25 will receive a take-home gift bag. There will also be awards given for the top fundraisers as well as special incentives for those who raise $50, $100, $250, $500 and $1,000+. WHO: Founded in 1989 by Anthony Kennedy Shriver, Best Buddies ® is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment. The Best Buddies Nevada division started in July 2008 and consists of 11 high school chapters, a UNLV chapter and over 400 area participants.
WHEN: Saturday, April 11 at 8:30am (the walk should only take about an hour).
WHERE: Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Registration is taking place from 7:30am-8:30am at the Theatre for the Performing Arts with the walk to follow.
