Capes and Super Powers Abound at Candlelighters Annual Superhero 5K in Las Vegas
Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada
held its 29th Annual Superhero 5K with Chet Buchanan at Mountain’s Edge Exploration Peak Park today. Runners, walkers and community partners sported superhero capes in support of children battling cancer as they competed in the 5K Superhero Run and the Superhero one-mile.

Following the race, attendees enjoyed food and refreshments and a kid’s zone with bounce houses and an obstacle course, as well as the newly added Beer Garden hosted by Ellis Island. Proceeds from the run will go toward supporting Candlelighters’ mission to provide emotional, financial and quality of life services to local children and their families battling a childhood cancer diagnosis.

The race is just one of many community events Candlelighters hosts during the organization’s annual shineGOLD campaign to generate awareness and community support in honor of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Candlelighters, Southern Nevada’s first and oldest nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting local pediatric cancer patients, is commemorating its 40th year of service to the community. This year also marks the third year of the organization’s shineGOLD campaign which is designed to help spread awareness about the devastating impact childhood cancer has on families and encourage the community to offer support and get involved.
