Bonkerz Comedy Club: Held inside the Pahrump Nugget Event Center, Bonkerz Comedy Club presents comedians Kyle Marlett and Jimmy Earll during the month of May. Marlett has been seen on “The Tonight Show” while Earll has been heard on Sirius/XM radio with Geoff Grant. Tickets are $10, but it comes with $5 in free slot play.

Pahrump Valley Speedway: Race season is in full effect at the Pahrump Valley Speedway. One of the only clay-based, high-banked, quarter-mile dirt tracks remaining in the U.S., Pahrump Valley Speedway promises action and thrills galore. Bring the family for a day of racing and cheer on different classes of cars including Modifieds, Super Stocks, Dwarf Cars, Coupes, Bombers, Mod Minis, and more.

Pahrump Valley Museum Lecture Series: Calling all history buffs: the Pahrump Valley Museum is dedicated to inspiring curiosity and teaching the rich history and culture of Pahrump through its one-of-a-kind exhibits that include early farming and mining equipment, early relics from cowboys and pioneers, and Native American artifacts. In addition to the historic items on display, the Pahrump Valley Museum offers a monthly lecture series that covers a wide range of topics.

Date: Second Saturday of the month; May 14
Time: 1 p.m.
Details: May’s guest speaker is Dr. Torrey Nyborg from Loma Linda University. Dr. Nyborg will be speaking about the Fossil Vertebrate tracks of Death Valley National Park including birds, cats, dogs, camels and mastodons. Research shows that a large animal population did exist in Death Valley and reviewing the mammal and bird track diversity will better allow us to understand the animal population in Death Valley.

10th Annual High Desert International Film Festival: Celebrate the talents of the international and independent filmmaking community during the 10th Annual High Desert International Film Festival. The four-day film festival will highlight submissions from filmmakers all over the world including Germany, Iran, India, France and Cuba.

Fireworks Over Pahrump: Watch Pahrump’s sky sparkle with fireworks during specially designated holiday weekends. Launch your own fireworks in a safe and supervised environment or enjoy the show. All visitors who are interested in launching their own fireworks must obtain a special permit from one of the five fireworks stores.

Date: Friday, May 27 – Sunday, May 29
Time: 8 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Details: Permits to launch fireworks are $5 per person and can be purchased at Area 51, Phantom Fireworks, Red Apple Fireworks, Black Jack Fireworks and Extreme Pyro.
