Carl’s Donuts Reopens a Vegas Retail Donut Shop for the First Time in 20 Years
Coming in hot, iced, and covered in sprinkles, Carl’s Donuts reopens their famous family donut shop to Las Vegas. Carl’s Donuts got its start in 1963 as a walk-up donut shop in the modified garage of a California motel. Shortly after their California success, Carl and Lyn Sanders relocated to Las Vegas and opened up Carl’s Donuts in the local variety store, Wonder World, in 1966. Having also found success in Las Vegas, they decided to expand to wholesale operations, supplying convenience stores in the area, which they continue to this day. However, as Carl’s Donuts grew on the wholesale side, their retail operations were put on hold, until now with the opening of Carl’s Donuts on Sunset Road.

“We want to bring back the simple elegance and nostalgia of a classic donut,” says Amber Ramsay, COO of Carl’s Donuts and granddaughter of the Sanders. “We’re not about making the trendiest, most over-the-top donut, we’re about focusing on quality to let the donut speak for itself.”

Carl’s Donuts features timeless classics that made them famous for more than 50 years including donuts of all varieties, glazed or sugared to iced or filled; specialty pastries; and sweet treats including:
- Raised donuts: Glazed Ring, Sugared Ring, Chocolate Iced, Pink Ring with Sprinkles, Maple Bar, Chocolate Bar, Bavarian Cream-filled, Raspberry Jelly-filled
- Cake donuts: Sour Cream Old-Fashioned, Crumb Cake, Plain Cake, Devil’s Food Cake, White Cake with Sprinkles
- Fancy donuts: Apple Fritter, Tiger Tail, Bear Claws, Cinnamon Roll, Seasonal Poppers, Chocolate Poppers
- Pastries: Kougin Amann, croissants (plain, chocolate, almond), chocolate twist, danishes (cherry, apple, cheese, blueberry/pear), morning bun, raisin roll, tarts (almond, raspberry, apple)
- Sweet Treats: cookies (shortbread, chocolate chip, oatmeal, sugar, snickerdoodle), brownies, muffins (blueberry, bran, chocolate chocolate, chunky monkey, lemon, orange cranberry)
They also offer specialty bi-monthly flavors. April and May’s specialty donuts include Crème Brulee (raised donut, custard, hand-torched sugar), Toffee Crunch (raised bar, dark chocolate icing, topped with English toffee), and Lemon Shortbread (raised donut, lemon filling, cream cheese icing, shortbread topping).
