Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada Calls on Community to Help Continue Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive
Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada (CCSN) is calling on the Las Vegas community to help the non-profit organization continue its annual Thanksgiving turkey drive in an effort to provide the city’s most vulnerable citizens with an authentic Thanksgiving meal (Pictured: CCSN 4-yr old Pantry client Sofia with Turkey).
One of Catholic Charities’ annual traditions ‑ 32 years and counting – has been organizing a Thanksgiving turkey giveaway, which provides a frozen turkey and nonperishable dinner fixings to its most vulnerable clients through the Hands of Hope Community Food Pantry. It is the Valley’s largest turkey giveaway, serving approximately 4,200 families.

“We could not accomplish this task without the community’s support,” said Deacon Tom Roberts, President and CEO of Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, “We are on a mission to allow our most vulnerable citizens in our community a chance to celebrate Thanksgiving with their loved ones, it is not only giving help, but we, with the community’s support, will provide hope for the holiday season.”
In addition to providing thousands of families with an opportunity to host their own Thanksgiving holiday feast by taking advantage of the food offered at the food pantry, CCSN will also serve its 53rd consecutive free Thanksgiving meal to roughly 1,000 homeless and vulnerable men, women and children as well as deliver 2,125 holiday meals to the homebound seniors through its Meals on Wheels program.

Frozen turkey and thanksgiving food donations will be accepted daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Nov. 21 at the Catholic Charities campus, located at 1501 Las Vegas Blvd. North, Las Vegas, NV 89101.
Volunteers are also needed to assist families as they shop and help give out turkeys from now until Nov. 21. Volunteers can sign up at www.catholiccharities.com.
