Knickerbocker Park
CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER – Get into the spirit of the holiday season with activities for the whole family at the annual Hometown Holidays at Providence. The free event is Saturday, Dec. 7 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Knickerbocker Park in the Providence master planned community in northwest Las Vegas.

The park is located at 10695 Dorrell Lane, north of the I-215 Beltway and Hualapai Way exit.

Hometown Holidays at Providence festivities cover Chanukah, Christmas and Kwanza and include arts and crafts, entertainment and free hot chocolate. Patrons also will have the opportunity to send messages of holiday cheer that will be distributed to the “Holiday Mail for Heroes” program. Sponsored by the American Red Cross, the program reaches out to troops who are recovering in military hospitals and service members stationed throughout the U.S. and abroad, as well as veterans and their families. Santa Claus along with P.D., the 7-foot-tall caramel-colored “Providence Dog” mascot, will be available for holiday pictures.

Event attendees are invited to bring canned goods and other non-perishable items to help families in need during the holidays. All of the donations will go to Three Square, a food bank that helps more than 600 programs in Southern Nevada in times of crisis and hunger.

Lighted park decorations and other Winter Wonderland decorations throughout the community will be displayed from Nov. 29 to Jan. 2.

In addition to Hometown Holidays activities, Knickerbocker Park features tot lots for 2 to 5-year-olds and 5 to12-year-olds, swing set, dog park with small and large dog areas, splash pad, youth baseball field, multi use events field, jogging path with exercise stations, and picnic areas. The park’s design and location also provides spectacular views of the entire Las Vegas Valley.

Hometown Holidays at Providence is sponsored by the Providence Master Planned Community, Providence Master Homeowner’s Association, and Stage House. For information, call (702) 216-2020.
