Clark County Summer Camp Registration Open

Registration is currently open for Clark County Parks and Recreation’s two six-day overnight summer resident camps. Camps will be held in July at Camp Lee Canyon in the Toiyabe National Forest 45 minutes northwest of the Las Vegas Valley. Each camp has a special focus and is geared toward specific age groups. Cost for the camps is $400 for each camp and includes all meals, a daily snack, class supplies and camp T-shirt. All camps begin on Sunday and end on Friday evening. Full payment registration is available online at www.accessclarkcounty.com/parks until April 27. Walk-in registration is from May 1 to June 1 with a $100 deposit and full payment due by June 1.

The On the Edge Camp is geared to ages 13 to 15 and will be held from July 19-24. The fun and challenging camp for teens features outdoor adventure recreation activities such as a high-ropes course, mountain biking, hiking, a one-night campout under the stars, cabin games and skits, crafts, campfires and a dance with a live DJ.

The Omni Camp is for ages 8 to 12 and will be held from July 26-31. During this popular camp, children will participate in interactive classes in the sciences, arts and outdoor adventure recreation. Traditional camp activities will include hikes, campfires, sing-a-longs, cabin and counselor skits and special guest speakers.

Campers stay in dormitory-style cabins supervised by trained counselors. Other in-residence staff includes instructors, a registered nurse, camp director, camp manager and a professional caterer. Campers are required to submit a camp physical exam prior to attending camp. Parents or guardians are responsible for campers’ transportation to and from camp.

Walk-in registration sites are Mountain Crest Park, 4701 N. Durango Drive; Sunset Park Administration Building, 2601 E. Sunset Road inside Sunset Park; Desert Breeze Community Center, 8275 Spring Mountain Road; and Hollywood Recreation Center, 1650 S. Hollywood Boulevard near Las Vegas High School.
