Construction vs. Cancer 2019 at Silverton; Las Vegas Paving Expands Unique Pediatric Cancer Patient Event
Building on their first year success story, southern Nevada’s leading construction companies will hold Construction vs. Cancer 2019, presented by Las Vegas Paving, on the grounds of the Silverton Casino (Pictured: Criss Angel, Shaunyl Benson and their son Johnny at last year’s event)

Created specifically for pediatric cancer patients, the event gives Las Vegas children an exclusive opportunity to operate heavy machinery, including backhoes, diggers, and excavators (with supervision).

Las Vegas Paving is a founding sponsor of the event with the American Cancer Society. A website supporting sponsorship opportunities, volunteerism, and related needs is open now at www.constructionvscancer.org. The inaugural Construction vs. Cancer event provided funding for pediatric cancer research, and a Patient Navigator at the Children’s Specialty Center of Nevada.

“We are very proud of the support we received last year”, said Lori Mendenhall, of Las Vegas Paving. “We are looking forward to expanding the event for the families in Las Vegas, and building on our research funding success”, added Mendenhall.

Local entertainment legends and top name acts are part of the winning formula at Construction vs. Cancer, and the 2019 event now adds “Take The Stage Las Vegas” performing arts company.

Last year’s hit entry Trapeze Las Vegas returns in 2019, as will children swag bags, provided by Las Vegas’ Re-Bath. Food trucks will be on hand, as will visits and exhibits by local first responders.

Sponsors and attendees will be “hard hats” for the day, helping operate heavy construction equipment at this family event. More than 2,000 big and little construction “operators” are expected to attend this unique fundraiser for The American Cancer Society.

The event is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, February 9, at Silverton Casino, 3333 Blue Diamond Road in Las Vegas. For more information, please contact Samantha Molinero at Samantha.Molinero@cancer.org, or by calling 702.891.9016.
