Cowabunga Bay Waterpark Opens 2015 Season with Record Breaking Numbers and Debuts Thrilling New Family Raft Rides
Cowabunga Bay Water Park opened its 2015 season, March 28, with a record breaking number of guests, food sales and season pass purchases and continued to surpass projections throughout its opening month.
The water park, located on 23 acres in Henderson, debuts two new slides and boasts over 25 attractions, including seven water slides, four surf and swim pools, including the longest Lazy River in Nevada, restaurants, and an area designed especially for kids.
On the eve of opening day, several guests camped out at the Front Gate out of anticipation to be one of the first riders on the new family tube ride, the Beach Blanket Banzai. A four person raft is conveniently carried to the top of a dizzying 55’ platform by a conveyor where the riders then board and begin thier thrilling decent down 600 feet of sharp turns, dips and drops at high speeds.
“Everything was perfectly in place to make our season opening a huge success. New rides, great staff and perfect weather all contributed to our record breaking numbers,” said Shane Huish, park manager of Cowabunga Bay Water Park. “Hundreds of guests took advantage of our new season pass friend add-ons, payment plan and new “Grab and Go” system, where passes were pre-processed and ready upon our guests first visit.”
Memorial weekend, the park is opening the second unique slide, “Wild Surf” slide, the world’s largest man-made wave. This adrenaline rush four-person raft drops guests from a dizzying height of 60’ into the swell of the mammoth wave. Riders slide side to side before they are plunged into the pool below.
The Las Vegas based park employs more than 300 park personnel, and offers a whimsical beach theme, exceptional guest service, free tubes, heated pools, new food items, such as Oreo Churros and Gourmet Dipping Sauces, an abundance of seating and picnic areas, and cabana rentals (alcohol available) to ensure its guest experience is enjoyable. Huish proudly adds, “Safety, cleanliness and customer service are priority with our team. We are committed to continue to provide excellent quality product and hospitality to the community and tourists.”
A variety of themed promotions are being offering throughout May for its valued customers, including Mother’s Day and Armed Forces Day promotions. Additional special events are also being introduced for the summer fun, including parent play dates and disco slide nights.
