December First Friday to Feature Unique Holiday Gifts & Treats and Salvation Army Holiday Sing-Along Friday, Dec. 7 in Downtown Las Vegas

has announced that December 7th First Friday’s theme is “Act” – asking our visitors, how do we “Act” with each other? How does creativity play a role? (Pictured: Street Artist Mowgli

Key elements for this month include:

  • First Friday’s Featured Artist – Originally from Baltimore, MD, Mowgli moved to Las Vegas and is a commissioned street artist, utilizing hand cut stencils and aerosol to bring artwork to everyone in his murals. He believes art should be available to all and everyone should also be encouraged to be creative. His work is inspired by the people around him and anyone pursuing their passion.
  • Live Entertainment – Check website for complete list6:30 p.m. Kiara Brown; 7:30 p.m. Jazzy & Friends;  8:45 p.m. Anthony Ball; 10:15 p.m. Venture Band.
  • Fun Zone –There are many fun activities for families throughout the event, including DISCOVERY Children’s MuseumFuture Makers, ABC Rock Climbing Wall and interactive art projectsScales and Tails are also back, featuring several different reptile species to discover.
  • Las Vegas Academy students participate in a December Poster Contest, interpreting the December theme of “Act”. Eve Barron, an LVA Senior takes 1st place in ACT with 7 runner ups. All their work will be on display.
  • Hemp-Waya new to First Friday in 2018, is dedicated to the education and promulgation of the hemp movement, offering a variety of speakers, exhibits and vendors featuring hemp-based products from food to fashion to building materials and art making supplies. In December, the theme is “Hemp is a Gift.” There will be many healthy gift ideas for the holidays on Boulder and 1st Street for First Friday.
  • Don’t miss the Smirnoff fire pit and warm up with a Peppermint and Baileys coffee or a Smirnoff Peppermint Martini garnished with a candy cane by the fire.
  • The Salvation Army will provide holiday caroling during the event – and encourages singing-along.
  • FIRST FRIDAY FOOTPRINT – the main stage is located at the south end of Art Way parking lot.  Majority of artists/vendors are placed on First Street, extending to Hoover. Premium Parking available in lot in front of Mission building and Art Square (accessed via Coolidge and South Casino Center Blvd.). Food trucks have moved to an area on Main and Coolidge – check out the food!

DECEMBER 7TH FIRST FRIDAY HIGHLIGHTS:

Alternative to driving to the event: 

  • Downtown Loop also provides transportation throughout downtown and to First Friday during the event. 

Art Style: Emerging and established artists, arts, crafts curated by artist Izaac Zevalking. Interactive painting for those who want to explore their own creativity. Over 60 original artists show their works at the event.

ArtWalk 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. showcases work by emerging Las Vegas artists. Check out the artist booths in main festival area. Be sure to stop into the Arts Factory and Art Square and visit the many art galleries and studios.

Community Productions Drum Circle – appearing again in December. 

Fun Zone: There are many fun activities for families throughout the event, including DISCOVERY Children’s MuseumFuture Makers, ABC Rock Climbing Wall, Tour of Terror Bus and interactive art projectsScales and Tails are also back, featuring several different reptile species to discover.

Music 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. Main Stage features a variety of musical acts throughout the evening. Check website for complete list. 6:30 p.m. Kiara Brown; 7:30 p.m. Jazzy & Friends; 8:45 p.m. Anthony Ball; 10:15 p.m. Venture Band.

Hemp-Way – 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. On the corner of Boulder Way and 1st Street. Holiday gifts available. Dedicated to the education and promulgation of the hemp movement, offers a variety of speakers, exhibits and vendors featuring hemp-based products from food to fashion to building materials and art making supplies.

Food & Drink 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. Explore the many options for your taste buds as the First Friday culinary experience is back in full force with delicious options from over 30 gourmet food trucks all in an area bordered by Main and Coolidge and First Street. There are also other artisan food vendors within the festival. Don’t miss the Smirnoff fire pit and warm up with a Peppermint and Baileys coffee or a Smirnoff Peppermint Martini garnished with a candy cane by the fire. Enjoy drinks at the many bars both in the First Friday event area and nearby in the arts district.
