Divine Café at Springs Preserve Hosts Basque Hands-On Cooking Experience

Divine Café at Springs Preserve Hosts Basque Hands-On Cooking Experience
Divine Café
, located on the Springs Preserve property at 333 S. Valley View, will host a hands-on cooking class featuring Basque cuisines Friday, March. 29, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Chef Garry Velasquez and his team will share their culinary skill and serve delicious meats like cod, lamb and rib-eye with vegetables.

Along the coast of the Pyrenees in Europe there is a minority group of Basque people who have lived there for thousands of years. Many famous “Spanish” towns including Bilbao and Pamplona (where the San Fermin Festival with the running of the bulls is held each year) are actually Basque. The Basque people are known throughout the world as fishermen, sheepherders and especially chefs!

Go to a Basque kitchen & come home to a warm hug. The aroma, peculiarly specific ingredients of abundant meaning, and eagerness to share life over a meal all speak to a world in a world all its own. The Divine Café is similar to that comfortable, old world feeling with “The Basque Kitchen”.

The cooking class is for guests 21 years and older. Guests will produce, taste-see-feel the roots of the old country with a deliciously modern flare and cook Basque favorites!

Tickets are $89 per person plus tax and includes a full Basque meal, beer and wine and the traditional Basque favorite – Picon Punch. Limited seating is available and paid reservations are required.

The menu course preparations may include the following: Txikiteo (coffee, tapas or wine), pinxtos (Basque tapas), croquettes, Basque insalata, marinated vegetables, Alubias de Tolosa (beans of Tolosa), traditional beans, Tortilla de Patatas (Spanish omelet), Txipirones (Basque inky squid), Marmitako (Basque tuna and potato soup), Bacalao al pil pil (cod and rice), Chilindron (lamb), rabbit, chorizo, grilled rib -eye, barbecue lamb, Pastel Vasco (Basque cake) and almond cake with pastry cream topped with cherries.

Tickets may be booked through the “upcoming events” page at www.divineeventslv.com.
