El Dorado Cantina Hosts Las Vegas' Fiesta of the Year in Honor of "Dia de Muertos" Nov. 1-2
El Dorado Cantina
, an authentic Mexican restaurant and bar close to the Las Vegas Strip invites patrons and new guests alike to celebrate Dia de Muertos with food and drink specials, face painting, live music and giveaways, 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 and Friday, Nov. 2.

This time of year is especially meaningful to Executive Chef Paco Cortes who grew up in Mexico City and has fond childhood memories of how everyone all across the region celebrated the holiday and honored loved ones who have past.

“I will always remember walking through the streets of our local marketplace and admiring the colorful and bright floral arrangements, fruit baskets and incense displayed at each storefront, which served as offerings to loved ones who are no longer with us,” said Chef Cortes. “Many people who aren’t familiar with the holiday might think it’s a somber one, but it’s the opposite…it’s truly a time of celebration to honor the dead, and I look forward to everyone joining us for the festivities at El Dorado Cantina. There will be something for everyone!”

Chef Cortes will travel back to his roots just days before the holiday to gather decorations and bring them back to display at El Dorado Cantina. Limited-time specials for Dia de Muertoes includes:

  • Prix-fixe menu ($35): three-course meal featuring appetizer (zucchini blossom quesadilla), entrée (choice of a mole dish – negro, rojo, verde or pipian) and dessert (seasonal and traditional Mexican treat featuring pumpkin and sweet potato).
  • Traditional Mexican music performed live by local musicians
  • Specialty margarita
  • Face painting
  • Prize giveaways

The around-the-clock restaurant is best known for being one of the only Mexican restaurant in the valley to offer cuisine made with organic, non-GMO ingredients and for its extensive menu featuring dishes inspired by regions all across Mexico. Chef Cortes and his team believe in using sustainably-raised products, which means that all of the beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, and fish used in the dishes originate from carefully-selected farms in the U.S. and are free from antibiotics, pesticides, and steroids.
