WaterWorks is located in the Charleston Heights Pumping Station, an operational pumping facility that serves water to residents and businesses in the Las Vegas community. WaterWorks is the only place in Southern Nevada with a behind-the-scenes look at the journey water takes to reach your tap. The exhibit can be accessed via a .25 mile walk or a train ride to the Boomtown 1905 depot, along the Exploration Loop Trail.

Comprised of dozens of interactive displays, WaterWorks takes you behind the scenes of our community’s 6,500-mile water system while providing perspective on the world around us.

  • Grab a lab coat and conduct your own water quality experiments in the Water Workshop.
  • Jump in our research boat or use a pair of binoculars as you conduct your own field research in the Water Quality Gallery.
  • Try your hand as a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (S.C.A.D.A.) operator in a simulated water delivery experience.
  • Explore an interactive model that demonstrates how water moves up and through the Las Vegas Valley.
  • Inspect real artifacts from workers and machinery used in the Lake Mead Intake No. 3 tunneling project.
  • Use your muscle to spin an impeller pump and watch water move through pipes.
  • Play interactive games and score points for making water-saving choices.
  • Play instruments and learn how organizations like ONE DROP are connecting people through the arts to protect vital water supplies worldwide.
