Free Retrospective Live Interview with Finocchio Club Legends at The Onyx Theater August 21

This is a great chance to catch these great performers of the Golden Age of female impersonation. This is a LIVE video taped interview featuring the two surviving Finocchio Club’s legendary performers, David de Alba and Paul (Lavern) Cummings.

David and Lavern have always sung live during their careers contrary to today’s standard in female impersonators who lip-sync to recordings. Both singer-impressionists have long impressive career trajectories and credits.

These are some of their stellar highlights:

David de Alba has performed his bi-lingual singing main act at Finocchio Club, theaters and cabarets in the SF/Bay Area; with the Olga and Tony Show in Miami Beach, FL; Albuquerque, NM; Phoenix, AZ; and Las Vegas, NV. He’s also a Celebrity Interviewer and Recording Artist; inductee to “The Gallery of Greats” for the TG Forum; has been written about in four books for his Judy Garland Tribute Act and was recently awarded an Achievement Award on June 2010 by Historian and Author James R. Smith. In Las Vegas, he’s given concerts in several local theaters and is also available for nightclub engagements, special events and TV appearances in the Las Vegas, Nevada area only.

Paul (Lavern) Cummings clear soprano tones and unique split-voice song style set a performance standard for the Art of Female Illusion that elevates it near the stratosphere. Lavern started out his career by joining the world renowned “Jewel Box Revue”, a touring FI company, where he learned all the tricks of the trade from many of the greatest FIs of all-time. Tired of touring, he stayed in San Francisco and worked at “The Beige Room” and later became the singing star at Finocchio Club for many years. Lavern was inducted to “The Gallery of Greats” for the TG Forum and has appeared in a TV-made movie “The Golden Gate Murders”. Now retired, he’s worked in a few movies as an extra and is currently writing his memoirs.
