Girl Scout Cookies Now Available Through March 4, 2012
Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada’s
annual cookie sale is underway. The activity of selling cookies is directly related to the purpose of helping all girls realize their full potential and become strong, confident, and resourceful citizens. Through the Girl Scout Cookie Program girls develop five essential skills: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.

“Your purchase of Girl Scout cookies helps girls with their exploration of financial responsibility,” said Emily Smith, Chief Marketing and Development Officer, Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada. “How a girl uses her money from the sale depends on her interests whether she chooses to travel the world with Girl Scouts, donate the funds or attend Camp Foxtail, the choices are part of her leadership experiences.”

Orders can be placed on all eight varieties of Girl Scout Cookies on our website, girlscoutsnv.org. These once-a-year treats will also be available at local retailers and financial institutions throughout Southern Nevada from February 10 to March 4. The 2012 Cookie line-up includes Caramel deLites, Thin Mints, Thanks – A – Lots, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Lemonades, Peanut Butter Patties, Shortbread, and Shout Outs!.

This year marks Girl Scouts’ 100th anniversary year. While Girl Scouts didn’t start selling cookies until 1917, this annual tradition has grown into the largest girl-led business in the country earning more than $700 million across the nation and generating immeasurable benefits for girls, their councils and communities nationwide.

Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls – all girls – where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and life skills for success in the real world. Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada serves more than 10,000 girl and adult members throughout Southern Nevada. Membership is open to all girls 5-17 years-old.
