Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada to Debut “Cookies & Kegs” on June 22
For the first time, Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada will host Cookies & Kegs on Wednesday, June 22. Signature Girl Scout cookies will be paired with six craft beers from Henderson’s Lovelady Brewing Company.
In addition to the cookies and brews, complimentary appetizers will be served. The event will take place at the brewery, which is located at 20 S. Water St., Henderson, NV 89015.
Pairings presented at Cookies & Kegs will include:
- Love Triangle Red Ale with Thanks-A-Lot cookies
- Tres Amour OR HopAtomic with Lemonades
- Pepper Brown with Peanut Butter Sandwich
- OUTBOCK! with Thin Mints
- SourPuss OR Porter with Caramel deLites
- Coffee Porter with Peanut Butter Patties
“Imagine your favorite Girl Scout Cookie paired with a craft beer,” says Liz Ortenburger, chief executive officer, Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada. “With this new, unexpected approach to raising awareness about Girl Scouts, we anticipate not only being able to showcase Girl Scout cookies in a brand-new way, but also instilling a new audience with appreciation for the benefits Girl Scouts brings to the community.”
During this event, Lovelady Brewing Company Brewmaster Richard Lovelady will not only spotlight specific beer-cookie pairings, but also create a special Girl Scout brew especially for the cause. Called Porter deLite, the concoction consists of Lovelady Brewing Company’s Porter infused with Caramel deLites, plus extra coconut and cocoa nibs.
“We’re a brand-new, family-run local brewery and naturally appreciate opportunities to be involved in the community—plus, we believe in the Girl Scouts’ mission,” said Lovelady, expressing his enthusiasm for the first-ever Cookies & Kegs event. “Matching up craft beer with Girl Scout Cookies presented a really fun challenge and I’m confident we came up with several eye-opening pairings. We looked for that ‘one-plus-one-equals-three’ equation, where both the beer and the cookie were enhanced by bringing them together.”
The event proceeds will continue to lay the foundation for all girls in Southern Nevada to become tomorrow’s female leaders. In addition to funding scholarships, proceeds enable the organization to reach girls in all demographics and areas of the community as well as expanding upon current programming such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), social values and financial literacy. Most importantly, support for Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada helps encourage girls to embrace imaginative and innovative approaches to everything they do—with the goal of creating a better world for all.
Cookies & Kegs will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person in advance and $25 at the door and the event is for individuals age 21 and older. Click here to purchase tickets.
