Harry Reid Receives “Champion of Public Broadcasting Award” from Association of Public Television Stations
The Association of Public Television Stations (APTS) presented Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) with a Champion of Public Broadcasting Award, the Association’s highest honor, at the APTS Capitol Hill Day on Tuesday, April 5.
The award is given to Members of Congress and other individuals who have had a tremendous impact on the ability of local public television stations, such as Vegas PBS, to meet the most critical needs of the communities they serve.
“It is an honor that the Senate Majority Leader from our home state of Nevada has been recognized for his support of public broadcasting,” remarked Vegas PBS General Manager Tom Axtell. “He understands that public broadcasting is an electronic highway offering access to education and ideas to Nevadans and the American people.”
The APTS is a nonprofit membership organization established in 1979 to conduct, in concert with member stations, advocacy, planning, research and communications activities in order to achieve strong and financially sound noncommercial television and advanced digital services for the American people.
