Henderson Kicks Off Holidays with WinterFest Dec. 8-9
Henderson residents will experience the excitement of a winter wonderland at this weekend’s WinterFest celebration. The annual event will feature a variety of new and cool attractions including a toboggan run and Santa visits inside a life-size snow globe (Pictured: WinterFest Carousel)

Admission is free, however, some activities may require paid admission.

Other popular holiday attractions include strolling carolers, a Ferris wheel, kid’s crafts, Happy Animal rides, a carousel, gift & craft fair, and a rock wall.

Mayor March and Santa Claus will light the new action-lighted Christmas tree at 6 p.m. on Friday. Coronado High School and Schofield Middle School choirs will provide musical entertainment during the tree lighting ceremony.

The WinterFest Evening Light Parade will feature more than 70 entries reflecting this year’s theme “Dazzling Desert Holiday.” The procession starts at 5 p.m. along Water Street on Dec. 9.

  • Dec. 8 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. – Tree lighting with Mayor March and Santa Claus, 6 p.m.
  • Dec. 9 from noon to 8 p.m. – Evening Light Parade, 5 p.m.

Where: Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water St.

Street Closures: Ocean Avenue (from Van Wagenen to Haynes) and Water Street (from Minor to Victory) will be closed to through traffic and street parking from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. on December 8 with a complete street closure from 2 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on December 9.
