Henderson Libraries to Take Part in ArtFest of Henderson

Henderson Libraries will play an integral part in this year’s 12th annual ArtFest of Henderson, which will take place Mother’s Day weekend Saturday, May 9, and Sunday, May 10.

As part of ArtFest, Henderson Libraries will staff a tent at ArtFest that will include a used book sale.

Friends of Henderson Libraries will be selling $5 bags to be filled with as many used books as possible. Proceeds from the book sale will benefit Henderson Libraries.

The Gibson Library – located at 280 S. Water St., just off Basic Road – will be closed during ArtFest, but some services will be offered at the staffed tent in the parking lot.

Additional activities will include a children’s craft area where kids can color quilt squares and a Friends of the Henderson Libraries used book sale.

ArtFest of Henderson features work from more than 200 national and local artists as well as food and live entertainment for the entire family. Festivities will stretch down Water Street from Army Street to just past Basic Road and will include surrounding areas including the new Henderson Events Plaza and the Henderson Convention Center.

The event, which draws nearly 50,000 attendees, has become a Mother’s Day weekend tradition in Southern Nevada. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both weekend days.

Established in 1943 as a single library in Downtown Henderson, Henderson Libraries offers four locations throughout Henderson and plans to open two more within the next few months. Henderson Libraries cooperates with other public libraries in Southern Nevada, the Nevada System of Higher Education, the Clark County School District and all other libraries around the state to provide quality service for Nevada’s residents.
