The year is almost at an end, which means it’s time to start looking forward to what 2019 will bring. Las Vegas plays host to a huge number of events, so here is a hand-picked selection of the hottest happenings that will be taking place over the next 12 months.

CES 2019

The Consumer Electronics Show returns to Las Vegas for another year, with the world’s biggest tech companies gathering to flaunt their latest wares in front of eager crowds.

Headline topics set to be covered by next year’s show, which runs from the 8th to the 11th of January, include 5G network connectivity, augmented reality, artificial intelligence and self-driving cars. Expect to see the first foldable phones from Samsung and LG make their debut, along with thousands of other cutting edge products and services.

WSOP Championship

Although the date and venue have yet to be finalized, the World Series of Poker is destined to take place in its ancestral home of Las Vegas next year, with an early July kick off anticipated.

In the run-up there will be circuit tournaments at Bally’s Las Vegas, as well as in other major cities across the country. People who are interested in getting in on a little gambling action ahead of the main event can enjoy slots, poker, table games and more via the Caumokasino.com website.

Russian National Ballet

One of the world’s leading ballet companies will be bringing their interpretation of Sleeping Beauty to Las Vegas in February, with the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall on the UNLV campus providing the backdrop for the dazzling dancing.

Toycon 2019

This is an event that kids and grownups alike will love, running from the 1st to the 3rd of March at the Westgate Casino and Resort.

Toycon 2019 will feature appearances from famous faces and voices from the world of entertainment. Visitors are encouraged to get involved themselves by embracing cosplay and dressing up as their favourite characters.

Las Vegas Highland Games

Taking place for the 15th year in a row, these unique games organised by the Las Vegas Celtic Society will prove hugely entertaining for anyone who’s interested in the traditions of ancient British and Irish tribes.

The event, lasting for two days from April 14th, isn’t just about competitive shows of strength, but also includes musical performances, food stalls, bars and lots of other fun things to see and do, all wrapped up with a healthy helping of tartan.

Electric Daisy Carnival

If its unusual name doesn’t give the game away, Electric Daisy Carnival is a hugely popular EDM music festival scheduled for the 17th to the 19th of May next year.

Up to 100,000 people are expected to attend and although the line-up for next year’s show has not been confirmed, in the past it has attracted major names like Tiesto, Afrojack and Eric Prydz.

Elvis Festival

Pay homage to the king of rock and roll at this annual festival which will grace Las Vegas for three days starting on the 11th of July next year.

As well as performances from some of the top Elvis impersonators around, it will also feature an awards show and of course lots of stands where memorabilia and merchandise of all types will be available to buy.

RollerCon

Roller derby lovers will be able to get their skates on and participate in RollerCon 2019 next July. This event attracts attendees from many other parts of the country and indeed the world, with live matches to enjoy and like-minded people to meet.

For newcomers, there’s no need to be intimidated as a number of seminars and lessons on the art of the roller derby will be offered to get you up to speed.

CombatCon

Another convention to add to your diary is CombatCon, which focuses on martial arts as well as the techniques used by performers on stage and screen to make choreographed fights look realistic.

Planned to run from the 1st to the 4th of August 2019 at the Flamingo Hotel, this event will be brilliant for anyone who wants to get hands-on experience with trained professionals and learn more about the craft.
