Intergalactic Art Car Festival Raises $20K for Local Arts in Las Vegas

This festival’s collection of art cars included vehicles stretching more than 25 feet long and over 50 feet high, and taking the forms of monsters, swans, staplers, cartoon characters and aliens. Some of the cars rolled down the Las Vegas Strip past thousands of cheering people before circling up in Downtown Las Vegas for a festival that lasted long into the night with even more art cars, fire dancers, DJs, food trucks and strolling characters.

Lyft covered the cost for 10,000 tickets to make the family-friendly festival accessible to everyone. Guests came dressed in interplanetary costumes, taking photos in the cars, talking to the artists who created them and interacting with the art pieces.

All proceeds from drinks, food, merchandise and donations benefited local arts programs through First Friday Foundation. Those who purchased a “Philanthropist” pass enjoyed an open bar at Atomic Liquors, along with Lyft credit to request a designated driver on demand.

“At Lyft, we feel that arts are fundamental to society in that they teach us more than drawing or painting, they teach us a creative process to solve problems,” said Kris Cuaresma-Primm, Lyft Nevada marketing lead. “We need creativity in our culture to help us think differently about solutions to a variety of problems ranging from traffic, to job creation, to climate change, to making sure you get a ride in less than three minutes at the tap of a button.”
