Klip It For Kidz Returns April 2 to Raise Funds for Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation
Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (CCCN) and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (METRO) join forces for the third year to present Klip It For Kidz – a special event to raise money for the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation (NCCF) (Pictured above: Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman cuts hair at last year’s event).
Klip It For Kidz will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Town Square Las Vegas.
This free public event benefits NCCF’s more than 25 programs and services offered to children and families affected by cancer and life-threatening illnesses. In addition to raising money for a great cause, Klip It For Kidz features live entertainment, exhibitions by METRO, Clark County Fire Department, Clark County Fire Department Honor Guard, and food and fun for the entire family.
Whether shaving your head or donating your hair (10 inches min.) to make wigs for children, participating in Klip It For Kidz is simple. Download a pledge form at www.nvccf.org or Facebook (search: Klip It For Kidz) and collect pledges from family, friends, co-workers, etc. through April 2. On event day, bring pledges along with a full head of hair to the southwest parking lot of Town Square Las Vegas, near Rave Motion Pictures. After checking in and registering your pledges, step up to the “Klip It For Kidz Salon” to get a new summer hairdo.
Raising money then shaving or cutting your hair is not the only way to get involved. Teams of co-workers, family members, classmates and social groups can band together to get pledges in honor of their company, family or loved ones, school or organization. Individuals can set their own fund raising goals and simply come to enjoy the event—all while keeping their hair intact.
New this year: text the word KLIP to 52000 from a mobile phone to donate $10 automatically. $10 will be added to phone bill. Standard messaging and data rates apply.
NCCF works side by side with the medical community to provide social, emotional, educational, financial and psychological support services and programs to families of all children diagnosed with a life threatening or critical illness such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, sickle cell, hemophilia, renal disorders and other immunologic diseases.
Assistance is provided by supplying required medication, providing transportation for doctor appointments, providing food and clothes to struggling families, offering free psychological counseling to those without insurance, and providing the opportunity for children to continue their education while they battle disease.
