Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation Hosts January Events to Show Appreciation for Law Enforcement
Wednesday, Jan. 9 marks National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day and, this January, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Foundation invites the community to observe and celebrate our officers throughout the month. 

“The amount of support we received throughout 2018 was outstanding and we’re excited to begin 2019 on a high note with the support of so many organizations,” said Tom Kovach, executive director of the LVMPD Foundation. “It’s important to recognize the officers who put their lives on the line for us every day and National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day gives our community the opportunity to thank them for all they do for us.”

Go True Blue Marquee Display – Wednesday, Jan. 9

To honor the brave members of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and law enforcement agencies throughout the valley, more than 40 property marquees and screens from organizations including Caesars Entertainment, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Station Casinos, Boyd Gaming, Affinity Gaming, South Point Hotel Casino & Spa and Wynn Resorts are coming together to Go True Blue in support of their local heroesThe LVMPD Foundation created the Go True Blue campaign to recognize and support LVMPD officers who, day-in and day-out, work hard to keep our community safe. It is a vehicle for the community members to show their support for LVMPD and the strong partnership that exists and continues to grow between LVMPD officers, companies, residents of Las Vegas and Clark County. Partners across the Las Vegas Strip, around the valley and downtown will turn property marquees blue at 9:20 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday in support of LVMPD Foundation. 

Las Vegas Sign Go True Blue Light Up – Thursday, Jan. 10

On Thursday, Jan. 10 the county will be issuing a proclamation to the LVMPD Foundation for Law Enforcement Appreciation Month. The ceremony at the Welcome to Las Vegas sign will take place at 11:30 a.m. and LVMPD Foundation representatives and county commissioners will come together as the sign lights up blue for the day. 

Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (L.E.A.D.) Community Celebration – Saturday, Jan. 12

Join the community in for the fifth-annual L.E.A.D. Community Celebration on Saturday, Jan. 12. The LVMPD Foundation is hosting a special event at Police Memorial Park from noon to 4 p.m. in recognition of L.E.A.D. The family-friendly event will feature food trucks, music, games, raffles, photo booths, face painting, specialized police and military unit displays and much more. The event, emceed by Las Vegas headliner Frank Scinta of The Scintas, includes special guests Mayor Carolyn Goodman, Las Vegas City Councilman Stavros Anthony, Clark County Commissioner Larry Brown and Sheriff Joe Lombardo, as well as representatives from Oakland Raiders organization, including the Raiderettes.
