Las Vegas Oscar Night America Party to Benefit Variety, The Children’s Charity Of Southern Nevada

The excitement and glamour of Hollywood are coming to The City of Entertainment on Oscar Night. Both residents and visitors alike will experience the thrills and surprises of the 83rd Academy Awards on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Oscar Night America Las Vegas Party.

The Las Vegas party is one of 50 parties officially sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that will be held across the country on Oscar Night.

Benefiting Variety, The Children’s Charity of Southern Nevada, the Las Vegas Oscar Night celebration will be held in the Brenden Theatres at the Palms Casino Resort. Celebrity red carpet arrivals will kick-off the festivities at 3:00 p.m.

Las Vegas audience will watch the Academy Awards telecast live starting at 5:00 p.m. in Brenden Theaters courtesy of KTNV-TV 13, the Las Vegas affiliate of the ABC Television Network, which broadcasts the Academy Awards presentation. This is the 18th year that the Academy and ABC have cooperated with local charities to support official Oscar Night viewing parties throughout the country.

“Oscar Night has always been an opportunity for friends and families to gather together and cheer for their favorite films and stars,” said Academy Executive Director Bruce Davis. “This nationwide network of fundraising parties is a natural extension of that shared experience.”

General Admission tickets for Oscar Night America Las Vegas are $50 and include a voucher for $30 in theater concession food and beverage. “Red Carpet Walk” tickets are $97.50 and include a voucher for $50 in theater concession food and beverage. For $500 per person, attendees may rub elbows with celebrities at the exclusive VIP Celebrity Reception in the private Brenden Celebrity Suite at. Oscar Night parties last year raised more than $3 million in 51 cities. All money raised stays in the local communities. Las Vegas Oscar Night will benefit Variety, The Children’s Charity of Southern Nevada, which is dedicated to improving the quality of life for local children with special needs.

“Oscar Night generates excitement all over the world,” said Kari Ayers, President of Variety, The Children’s Charity of Southern Nevada. “With the Academy’s help, our guests will feel like they are on the A-list. We had an incredibly enthusiastic turnout last year and hope to raise even more money for Variety this year.”

Serving more than 20,000 special-needs children, Variety, The Children’s Charity of Southern Nevada, has donated more than $7 million worth of goods, services and money to children’s programs affiliated with 36 local agencies. Variety provides charitable support to the Kids on the Go! Mobility Program, Sunshine Coach Transportation Program, Kids in Need Temporary Assistance Program, Learning for Kids Experiential Tools Program and Kids at Play Therapeutic Recreational Program.

In 1950, Variety Clubs International granted a charter to a group of local resort and entertainment executives “to hold a Tent of The Midway located in Las Vegas, Nevada, and to be known as Tent No. 39.” For many years, Tent 39 sponsored the annual “Night of Stars,” which attracted thousands to the old Elks Stadium and later at Cashman Field to be entertained by some of the biggest names in show business, including Red Skelton, Jack Benny, Jane Russell and Sammy Davis Jr. Today, Variety International has a network of 43 Tents in 13 countries to offer financial assistance and services to children and organizations that serve children with special needs.
