Las Vegas Turns Red for World AIDS Day
Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) will continue the fight against HIV/AIDS and honor those affected by the disease for World AIDS Day on Friday, Dec. 1 with a series of commemorations around Las Vegas (Pictured: Keep Memory Alive Event Center – Photo courtesy of AFAN)
At 9 a.m., city officials, state dignitaries, and AFAN’s Executive Director Antioco Carrillo will join together to turn Las Vegas’ City Hall red to recognize the great strides made in prevention, raise HIV/AIDS awareness, and support those living with this disease.
Las Vegas landmarks and casinos will show their support by lighting their marquees red beginning at 8 p.m. Supporting properties include:

The inaugural World AIDS Day was held in 1988 and was the first-ever health awareness day to be recognized globally. As of 2015, 36.7 million people live with HIV worldwide and AFAN helps more than 1,200 adults and children in Southern Nevada through direct client service programs, food programs, prevention and education programs and community outreach.
