With continued acknowledgment and respect for Liberace’s musical influences, Fortenberry and Spencer will also share stories behind some of the musical selections as well as from their personal and professional experiences.  Some of the musical numbers include standards such as “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” “Stardust,” “Deep Purple,” as well as novelty songs and some original compositions.

“We are both most excited to have this opportunity to share our musical partnership in the Liberace Cabaret,” said Fortenberry.

“Liberace and Me”
The Liberace Foundation & Museum presents an intimate cabaret-style concert, “Liberace and Me,” featuring Composer & Pianist Philip Fortenberry from the cast of “Jersey Boys.” Live piano performances in the 75-seat Cabaret Showroom showcase Fortenberry’s captivating piano talent and love of performing and entertainment. The 45-minute concert is a loving tribute to the spirit and legacy of Liberace and the impact he had in the life and career of Fortenberry. He tells his own story and plays his own musical arrangements, while paying homage to the life, the music, and the entertaining style of Liberace. Fortenberry opens the cabaret concert with Liberace’s signature arrangement of “Chopsticks.” He also features some of the songs for which Liberace is most famous, classical favorites and show-stopping Broadway music. Fortenberry weaves the music around his own story of his journey as a pianist from rural Mississippi to Broadway, from local recitals and talent shows, to command performances for royals and dignitaries. He also makes a wonderful offering of his original “Portrait in Music,” an improvisational gift to the audience created in the moment, that echoes Liberace’s spirit of spontaneity.
