Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada Partners with The Ride Premium Indoor Cycling; Public Invited to Workout with Michael Tatalovich Wish Kid Cyclist
The first ever “Ride For Wishes” fundraiser benefitting Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada is being hosted by The Ride Premium Indoor Cycling. Cyclists will work out alongside local “Wish Kid” and Coronado High School graduate, 21-year-old Michael Tatalovich, who last year completed a 4,000-mile, 70-day North American cycling tour to raise awareness about cancer research.

Following the cycling class Tatalovich will share his journey from active teenager through grueling cancer treatments to cancer research advocate. “Ride For Wishes” is open to the public. Rides are $100 with all proceeds to benefit Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada.

Tatalovich was diagnosed with stage 2 Ewing’s Sarcoma in 2013 at age 17 and underwent aggressive chemotherapy treatments. “The confident and independent version of me was washed away in a torrent of chemicals and toxins. I was relegated to a wheelchair as my femur had been crushed under the weight of the tumor,” said Tatalovich, who, following removal of his tumor, received a titanium rod to INSERT his femur and a partial hip INSERT ment. After surgery and more chemotherapy, Tatalovich finally received the good news of remission. “It felt as though I had been given a second chance at life, and I was determined to make it count.”

Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. According to a 2011 U.S. study of wish impact, most health professionals surveyed believe a wish-come-true has positive impacts on the health of children. Kids say wishes give them renewed strength to fight their illness, and their parents say these experiences help strengthen the entire family.
