Nathan Adelson Hospice
, the largest non-profit hospice in Nevada, is collecting items for its annual ‘Back to School Supply Drive’ to help local students in the 2016/2017 school year.

From now through Aug. 22, the hospice locations will serve as drop-off points for much-needed school supplies for the students at Robert L. Taylor and Sunrise Acres elementary schools. The supply drive will also help Nathan Adelson Hospice’s Families in Need Program, which assists families utilizing hospice care and also employees in need.

Among school supplies needed are:

  • Backpacks
  • Paper
  • Crayons
  • Markers
  • Scissors
  • Erasers
  • Glue sticks
  • Tissue boxes
  • Colored pencils
  • Pocket folders
  • Rulers
  • Binders
  • Paper towels
  • Zip lock bags

Items can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at one of the following Nathan Adelson Hospice locations: 4141 Swenson St. off East Flamingo Road; and 3150 N. Tenaya Way at the corner of Cheyenne Avenue, on the third floor of the MountainView Medical Offices building. The donations will be delivered to the schools prior to the first day of classes on Aug. 29.

“At Nathan Adelson Hospice, we always strive to be a strong community partner by helping others in need,” said Nathan Adelson Hospice President and CEO Carole Fisher. “Every year, we look forward to supporting these schools and providing their students with the essential tools that they need to succeed and start the school year off right.”

Fisher said Nathan Adelson Hospice adopted Robert L. Taylor Elementary School in 2009 after a prominent school educator, Cliff Kehoe, became a patient at the hospice. He was a dedicated educator and supporter of high-risk students, and Fisher promised him that “his work would continue to flourish” even after his passing in April 2009. The Nathan Adelson Hospice team expanded their efforts to include Sunrise Acres Elementary School in 2010.
