National Atomic Testing Museum Hosts Lecture with Pawn Stars’ Mark Hall-Patton & Allan Palmer
The National Atomic Testing Museum is presenting a Special Lecture by two of Las Vegas’ most visible museum directors: Mark Hall-Patton (pictured) and Allan Palmer.
Mark Hall-Patton is the Administrator of the Clark County Museum and a Member of the National Atomic Testing Museum Board of Trustees. Hall-Patton has also served as past president of the Nevada Museums Association and is seen regularly as the go-to history expert on the History Channel’s hit show Pawn Stars.
Allan Palmer is the Executive Director & CEO of the National Atomic Testing Museum and has directed and built major aviation, space and history museums in the western United States. He has also been seen frequently on television shows such as Mysteries at the Museum, Brad Metzler’s Decoded, American Restoration, and most recently as another expert on Pawn Stars.
The lecture will examine the benefits and unintended consequences of appearing as an expert on documentary and reality television shows from the perspective of active museum professionals. The topics discussed will include the increased visibility and marketing of the museums, the time it takes away from the running of museums, and the impact appearing on television has on the public’s perceptions of museums and the reputation of museums as respected public institutions.
