(NBT) launches its 2018-2019 mainstage performance season at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts with the Las Vegas premiere of Ben Stevenson’s renowned Ballet, Dracula (Photo credit: Jerry Metellus).

Sparking curiosity and fascination for decades, Bram Stoker’s iconic 1897 novel brings 19th Century Transylvania to Las Vegas through the mind of expert storyteller and choreographer, Ben Stevenson. A mysterious Hungarian village and the castle of a devious, air-bound Count sets the stage for a chilling love triangle–magnified by massive props and special effects such as an exploding chandelier and a flying corps of brides (Flying by Foy). Placing audiences within a stunningly theatrical and ethereal supernatural world, the music of Hungarian Composer Franz Liszt has been expertly arranged by John Lanchberry.

“A master of the story ballet, Ben Stevenson’s talent for marrying a narrative with ballet and pure theatricality is evident in his work with ballet companies around the globe,” said Artistic Director Roy Kaiser.  “We are excited to share this revered Ballet with Las Vegas audiences just in time for Halloween weekend.”

Originally conceived to mark the 100th anniversary of this haunting tale, Stevenson’s inspired full-length ballet has received critical acclaim for its character development, intelligent choreography and overall visual opulence.  NBT’s presentation of Dracula will be staged by former Houston Ballet Principal Dancer and Choreographer, Dominic Walsh.

With an enhanced weekend performance schedule, tickets from $29 and up are available for four performances beginning Thursday, October 25 through Sunday, October 28, 2018 and may be purchased by calling The Smith Center Box Office at (702) 749-2000 or by visiting www.nevadaballet.org.
