About the artist – Austine Wood Comarow

Austine Wood Comarow, known professionally as Austine, is a highly acclaimed artist who invented her own technique to create colorful works using no pigments but rather principles of the physics of light. Her art form, called Polage, uses clear cellulose and polarizing filters to turn a colorless design into an explosion of color.

After spending her youth in the international environment of Geneva, Switzerland, where her father directed the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Las Vegas resident Austine obtained her B.A. from the University of Indiana and her M.F.A. from Syracuse University. Her works are held in private, corporate and museum collections across the globe and have been displayed in numerous exhibitions for decades.
