One Drop Foundation Welcomes More Than 1,000 Participants and Raise $120,000 During Eighth Annual Walk for Water for One Drop
On Saturday, Sept. 21, One Drop Foundation hosted the eighth annual three-mile inspirational walk, Walk for Water for One Drop presented by Focus Plumbing, at the Las Vegas Springs Preserve (Pictured: Mayor Carolyn Goodman, Jerry Nadal and Brian Kunec cut the ribbon at Walk for Water 2019).

More than 1,000 participants raised over $120,000 to support One Drop’s mission of providing access to safe water for all. The supporters walked three miles against a serene desert backdrop while holding buckets filled with water to simulate the effort millions of women and children make daily for their basic needs.

To kick-off Saturday morning’s festivities, the Mayor of Las Vegas, Carolyn Goodman, made welcoming remarks to the enthusiastic crowd and created awareness surrounding the important water challenges around the globe. Following the welcome ceremony, Brian Kunec, Chairman of Walk for Water, educated walkers about the global impact One Drop makes and the vital funds needed to continue its life-changing work. All proceeds from the event directly benefitted water conservation, technology and education efforts throughout Southern Nevada.

Before the walk began, an artist from The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil led the group with a creative warm-up alongside dancers from Fantasy, and DJ So Hype spun live tracks and provided entertainment throughout the morning. The event was hosted and emceed by Jay R Beatbox, known for his beatboxing, who treated participants to catchy beats and original mashups with JHype. Families enjoyed the live entertainment, carnival games and complimentary access to the Springs Preserve WaterWorks exhibit.
