Opportunity Village, CCSD to Host 17th Annual Job Discovery Program Celebration May 22
Opportunity Village and the Clark County School District are hosting the 17th Annual Job Discovery Program Celebration to honor JDP participants from the 2018-19 school year that have gained jobs in the Southern Nevada community. There will be around 15 to 20 student honorees (Pictured: Job Discovery Program honorees celebrate at 15th annual event).
The Job Discovery Program is a work-readiness program operated jointly by Opportunity Village and the Clark County School District that is targeted towards students with disabilities who have been referred for vocational training. The program – which runs for six hours a day and adheres to CCSD scheduling – is comprised of multiple, varied training sites where participants are able to develop and improve their vocational skills in a natural working environment.
Each year, several of these students receive jobs in the Southern Nevada community from partners such as Chuck E. Cheese, Habitat for Humanity, Planet Fitness, Albertsons, Tropical Smoothie, McDonald’s, Brooklyn Bowl, PENTA Building Group and others. Opportunity Village and CCSD currently have 91 students enrolled in their Job Discovery Program.
