Opportunity Village Opens Registration for Seventh Annual Las Vegas Great Santa Run Dec. 3

attempts to break the world record for the Largest Santa Gathering with The Las Vegas Great Santa Run Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Town Square Las Vegas.  

Registration for the 5K run or one mile Kris Kringle Jingle is now open for individuals and teams online.

This year’s participants of the Seventh Annual Las Vegas Great Santa Run will experience an amazing Strip view while they run over the new Sunset Bridge near Town Square. The run also will feature five parachuting Santa Clauses, courtesy of Las Vegas Extreme Sky Diving and Maverick Helicopters. The jolly Saint Nicks will parachute into Town Square and once their boots touch ground, the race will start.

Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman will lead the opening ceremony along with Honorary Chair, Robin Leach; Mirage headliner Terry Fator as Grand Marshal; Honorary Great Santa, Commissioner Steve Sisolak; and creator of the “Great Santa Run” song, George Dare. Sponsors for this year’s event include Circle K Convenience Stores, Golden Gaming, Inc., KVVU FOX 5, Las Vegas Review-Journal and Town Square Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Great Santa Run is a huge success each year, averaging over 7,000 runners annually. This year’s goal is to reach 15,000 Santa’s to take the world record back from Derry, Ireland who set the record in 2007 with 12,965 participants.

The Las Vegas Great Santa Run serves as a fundraising effort to benefit Opportunity Village. Pre-registration is $35, or $25 for 12 and under; day-of registration is $45 and $35 for 12 and under. Registration fee includes a five-piece Santa Suit and great gifts. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at Town Square in the front parking lot and the 5K run and the one mile Kris Kringle Jingle walk start at 10 a.m. Interested participants may register through the Opportunity Village website.
