Opportunity Village to Celebrate 60th Birthday with Blowout Birthday Bash Weekend
Opportunity Village, Las Vegas’ Favorite Charity, is celebrating the culmination of its 60th year of celebrations.
The not-for-profit, helping people with intellectual disabilities, will blow out its birthday candles with a Blowout Birthday Bash, a special three-day celebration on May 15, 16, and 17 at Opportunity Village’s Oakey Campus – 6300 West Oakey Blvd. The Magical Forest will be open to the public on Friday and Saturday from 5:30 – 10:00 p.m. and Sunday from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m.

Admission is free to children 12 and under and $10 for 13 and older. Anyone who is 60 years old, 60” tall, or celebrating their birthday during the weekend, with proof of ID will also receive free admission. To enjoy attractions, visitors can purchase a wristband for $12.00 or individual ride tickets at $3.00 each. Food and beverage will also be available for purchase.
The Magical Forest will transform into a Wizard of Oz-inspired wonderland with several attractions, children’s games and live entertainment. Guests can hop aboard the Forest Express Train, enjoy Cheyenne’s Enchanted Carousel, whisk down the Avalanche slide, and play a round of Rod’s Mini Golf. Throughout the weekend guests are encouraged to sign the birthday card, savor in the scrumptious OV birthday cake and enjoy root beer floats. In addition, a special cake display of Wizard of Oz-themed cakes created by local bakeries will be featured in the OV lobby.
Opportunity Village’s birthday bash will have numerous activities including the Hofbrauhaus Beer Garden – Located in the in the midway and will serve beer and wine, accompanied by a live DJ and band; Hot Air Balloon Rides – Happening only on Saturday, May 16th, tethered balloon rides, accommodating up to six people, will be located in the College of Southern Nevada parking lot. The balloon basket will also be available during the weekend for photo opportunities; Vendor Fair – The three-day show will host vendors selling a variety of merchandise including hand-crafted jewelry, original paintings and trendy clothing. The fair will also feature hand-painted scarves and ties from artists in the OV Fine and Performing Arts program. A portion of the proceeds from the sales will benefit OV; Raffles – Purchase raffle tickets for some great prizes including an 18k white gold diamond pendant donated by MJ Christensen Diamonds.
“60 years is such a feat for this amazing organization. This event is not only to celebrate the 60 years we’ve been around but also for the next 60 years…and beyond,” says Associate Executive Director, Linda Smith. “OV is always looking for opportunities to grow and serve those with intellectual disabilities and the community. This birthday bash serves as a big thank you to everyone who continues to help us fulfill our mission.”
