Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada
(RTSNV), the local affiliate of the national nonprofit Rebuilding Together, will celebrate National Rebuilding Day on Saturday, April 28 (Pictured: Alyssa Bostrom and Virginia Johnson making gutters).

Twenty-two teams comprised of approximately 700 RTSNV volunteers will revitalize 18 homes in Las Vegas, Clark County and Henderson at no cost to recipients, who often live with limited resources and must choose food and needed medicine over critical home repairs.

The homes selected by RTSNV will receive critical repairs as well as maintenance work. Critical repairs include installation of new plumbing and HVAC systems; roof repair; water heater INSERT ment; ADA modifications such of grab bars, safety rails and other accessibility adjustments; and other major home rehabilitation work. Maintenance work completed by volunteer teams on National Rebuilding Day includes exterior painting, xeriscaping, property clean up, debris removal and other minor repairs.

“Our work extends far beyond the four walls of the home to impact the health and vibrancy of people’s lives and entire neighborhoods,” said Bob Cleveland, executive Director at RTSNV. “The repairs we make on National Rebuilding Day and throughout the year transform the lives of our neighbors in need by reducing falls, health and safety hazards and improving safety and mobility.”

Those making repairs to the 18 homes include volunteer teams from Bishop Gorman High School; Home Depot; Sears’ Heroes at Home program; Wells Fargo; Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals (VAREP); Chase Bank; Las Vegas Metro Police Department; Las Vegas Fire Department; Mortenson-McCarthy; St. Rose Dominican Hospital; Southwest Gas; The PENTA Building Group; CBRE Las Vegas; The Raymond Group; National Title Co.; University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV); Keller Williams Realty; NV Energy; United States Air Force (USAF); Sherwin Williams; Aqua Plumbing LLC; Capital One; and Mission Support & Test Services.

“Too many of our neighbors throughout the country suffer from the health and economic consequences of living in substandard housing and unsafe communities,” said Caroline Blakely, President and CEO of Rebuilding Together. ”National Rebuilding Month serves as a call to action to encourage everyone to support their neighbors, strengthen their community and ensure everyone is living in safe and healthy homes.”

April is National Rebuilding Month, Rebuilding Together’s month-long call to service, which concludes on National Rebuilding Day. Throughout the month, more than 33,000 volunteers will come together to complete more than 1,300 rebuild projects across the country.
