Registration Open for More Magazine/Fitness Magazine Women’s Half-Marathon
MORE
and FITNESS magazines announced today that registration is open for the 2015 MORE Magazine/FITNESS Magazine Women’s Half-Marathon, one of the largest women’s-only half-marathons in the country.

This year’s race will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2015 in New York City’s Central Park.

MORE and FITNESS magazines are co-hosting the event in conjunction with New York Road Runners (NYRR) and expect to welcome thousands of race participants and spectators alike to Central Park.

The 13.1-mile race is open to women runners and walkers of all ages. Registration is accepted online at www.morefitnesshalf.nyrr.org. To enhance the race-day experience, the size of the event will be capped at 10,000 runners, so participants are encouraged to register early.

“There’s no race like the MORE Magazine/FITNESS Magazine Women’s Half-Marathon,” says FITNESS Editor-in-Chief, Betty Wong. “The energy of thousands of women gathered in Central Park achieving their fitness goals and supporting each other across the finish line is what inspires me to join them year after year.”

For the first time, the 12th annual race will raise awareness of the impact of climate change and the importance of sustainability. This year’s Women Run the World™ program will honor women whose work focuses on addressing climate change policy and improving the environment.

CARE, a leading humanitarian organization that empowers women and girls around the world, is the official charitable partner. MORE and FITNESS invite all half-marathon participants to donate to CARE, with benefits from the MORE Magazine/FITNESS Magazine Women’s Half-Marathon helping CARE support women and their families, including support coping with the impact of climate change and reducing their vulnerability to the risk of disasters. More information about CARE’s climate change efforts is available at http://www.care.org/work/world-hunger/climate-change.

“Climate change affects women and children around the world and creates challenges to their very survival,” says MORE Editor-in-Chief, Lesley Jane Seymour. “What better way to show how women support each other in every country than to dedicate this race to this important issue.”

On race day, supporters and spectators can cheer on the runners and also visit the Race Day Festival to enjoy live music, free samples, fun activities and more. There will be an Awards Ceremony following the race celebrating the runners, hosts and Women Run the World honorees.

MORE and FITNESS have been dedicated partners of New York Road Runners for more than a decade, passionately supporting our mission to help and inspire people through running,” said Mary Wittenberg, president and CEO of New York Road Runners. “This event brings together thousands of women of all ages for a celebration of health and fitness, from first-time half-marathoners to the most experienced runners, all of whom are committed to a healthy lifestyle.”
