Residents Answer Henderson’s Call to Help Clear the Animal Shelter on August 18 and 19
For the second year, the City of Henderson Animal Care and Control Facility participated in “Clear the Shelters,” a nationwide effort to find all shelter pets loving forever homes. This year, the adoption of 134 pets – 68 dogs, 56 cats, five rabbits, three birds, and two guinea pigs – marks a 10 percent increase in adoptions compared to last year’s total.
For the event on Saturday, the city had 15 employees and 29 volunteers, and on Sunday there were 10 employees and 28 volunteers.
All cat, dog and rabbit adoptions were half price, with an additional 50 percent discount for Henderson residents.
Adoption costs included routine vaccines, spay or neuter surgery if not already done, microchip ID and registration, and rabies tag or Henderson license.
The City of Henderson Animal Care and Control Facility is open for adoptions Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. (with adoptions closing at 4:30 p.m.) and is located at 300 E. Galleria Dr. (east of Boulder Highway, near the Bird Viewing Preserve). The Shelter is closed on all government-observed holidays.
