“I’m still in awe that we raised more than $100,000 last year during our inaugural event and I am grateful to everyone who supports this great cause,” said Rick Harrison. “It’s going to be a great day and I can’t wait to do it again!”

Rick Harrison is an Epilepsy Foundation national board member and spokesperson. Harrison developed epilepsy as a child, living with difficult-to-control seizures which often disrupted his time at school and with friends. While his seizures have now ended, Harrison is dedicated to helping promote the mission of the Epilepsy Foundation and its local chapter in Nevada by bringing attention to the greater need for epilepsy awareness, education and acceleration of new seizure therapies.

“Having Rick’s support not only as a national spokesperson but here in Las Vegas has made a tremendous difference for the Epilepsy Foundation over the last year, especially with the Pawn Stars Poker Run,” said Danielle Marano, executive director of the Epilepsy Foundation of Nevada. “He is not only helping improve the more than 25,000 lives of those living with epilepsy in Nevada, but across the country as well.”

Harrison will once again kick off the Poker Run festivities by signing autographs as part of a partnership with Las Vegas BikeFest. Confirmed days/times to be announced shortly.

About the Epilepsy Foundation of Nevada and the National Epilepsy Foundation

When a person has two or more unprovoked seizures, they have epilepsy, which affects more than two million people in the United States and 65 million people worldwide. This year, another 150,000 people in our country will be diagnosed with epilepsy. Despite all available treatments, four out of 10 people with epilepsy continue to experience uncontrolled seizures while many more experience less than optimal seizure control.

The Epilepsy Foundation of Nevada launched in 2014 as a chapter of the Epilepsy Foundation. Previously known as Epilepsy Nevada since 2008, the chapter joins 47 others across the country serving their local epilepsy communities. There are 27,000 people living with epilepsy in Nevada.

The mission of the Epilepsy Foundation nationally is to stop seizures and SUDEP, find a cure and overcome the challenges created by epilepsy through efforts including education, advocacy and research to accelerate ideas into therapies. The Foundation is an unwavering ally for individuals and families impacted by epilepsy and seizures. The Foundation works to prevent, control and cure epilepsy through community services; public education; local advocacy; and providing referral service to those in need. The Foundation works to ensure that people with seizures have the opportunity to live their lives to their fullest potential. For additional information, please visit www.epilepsy.com.
