The representatives posed together for photos surrounded by the youth center’s residents and supporters. Following the presentation, a dinner prepared by the chefs of The Venetian Resort Las Vegas was served by the Sands Cares volunteers, which featured a mixed greens salad, topped with poached prawns and homemade ranch dressing; braised short ribs topped with a beef demi-glace; seared chicken breast, mashed potatoes, spinach, and cauliflower. The residents also enjoyed a variety of desserts including cookies, brownies, and ice cream.

The donation will provide 1,807 nights of shelter for the youth, and the opportunity to name five rooms on the first floor of the center after Sands Cares.

HELP of Southern Nevada’s Shannon West Homeless Youth Center provides services for at-risk youth that are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. The Youth Center motivates residents towards reaching self-sufficiency by providing the training and skills to further their education, employment, social and life skills.

The residential and day programming enables youth to learn skills necessary to succeed as adults. By collaborating with a number of agencies, we have the resources to provide the following services on site: intensive case management, substance abuse counseling, mental health referrals, educational assessment, vocational training, and life skills grocups focusing on a variety of issues such as anger management, independent living, money management, peer socialization, consumer and problem solving skills, and health education.
