Shortbread is Chosen Cookie for Girl Scouts’ 2014 Dessert Before Dinner Gala
You don’t hear about walls coming down on the Las Vegas Strip every day! On Wednesday, Sept. 17, a 6×8 foot wall of Girl Scout cookie boxes came down to unveil the Shortbread Girl Scout Cookie as this year’s chosen cookie, for the 2014 Dessert Before Dinner Gala.
Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada led the demolition, with the help of Mirage headliner and Celebrity Impressionist Terry Fator. The event took place at the Bella Luce Terrace at Caesars Palace.
The Dessert Before Dinner Gala is Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada’s annual premier fundraising event that will be held Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Palace Ballroom inside Caesars Palace. The highlight of the evening will be the dessert competition prior to dinner, where a collection of Las Vegas’ finest chefs will compete against each other to create a unique and delicious dessert using the Shortbread cookie.
In addition to the competition, the gala will feature a cocktail reception, silent auction, and program including a keynote speech from Jan Jones Blackhurst, former Las Vegas mayor and executive vice president of government and communications at Caesars Entertainment. Seven local women leaders will also be honored at the event for their outstanding contributions to our community.
