“Sousa in the 21st Century” Concert at The Smith Center to Feature CCSD Students and Professional Artists April 11

The Public Education Foundation, the Clark County School District and The Smith Center will present a community concert in support of arts education in Clark County on April 11 at 6:30 p.m. in The Smith Center’s Reynolds Hall.

“Sousa in the 21st Century” is a tribute to John Philip Sousa and will feature performances by musicians, visual artists, dancers and thespians from across Southern Nevada and ranging from students to performing professionals. More than 30 students and almost 70 teachers from more than 60 CCSD schools will perform. This is the first concert of its kind to be held at new The Smith Center.

All proceeds will support arts programs in CCSD schools. Tickets are $10. Thirty-one public schools are selling tickets to raise money for their school’s arts program. (A list of participating schools follows below.)

Tickets can also be purchased at The Public Education Foundation until March 30. From April 3 until the concert night, tickets will be available at The Smith Center box office. These ticket sales will benefit the Foundation’s Artists 4 Kidz program, which connects the creative energy of the Las Vegas arts community with students in the CCSD in order to enrich their educational experience in the arts. Luxury box seats are also available for sale through the Foundation.

Corporate sponsors of the event include NV Energy, Sam’s Club/Walmart, USAA Savings Bank and Cox Communications.
