Speedway Children’s Charities Joins United Blood Services for Fifth Annual Blood Drive Sept. 11

NASCAR fans and all members of the Las Vegas community are being called upon to help those in need by participating in the fifth annual Speedway Children’s Charities Blood Drive on Saturday, Sept. 11.

The blood drive will be held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s infield media center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. LVMS is one of more than 25 NASCAR tracks participating in this annual event.

To donate blood, individuals must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Those who donate blood will have the opportunity to win passes to the Neon Garage for the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at LVMS. All donors will receive two free tickets to the Smith’s 350 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Sept. 25.

Individuals may register to donate by visiting www.unitedbloodservice.org and type in the sponsor code: NASCAR. Appointments may be scheduled by calling (702) 638-7400.

United Blood Services has been the Las Vegas area’s non-profit community blood provider since 1943 and serves patients in more than 20 hospitals in Southern Nevada. The United Blood Services network is one of the nation’s oldest and largest non-profit blood-service organizations, and is a founding member of America’s Blood Centers and the AABB.

Making a difference in a child’s life is the focus of Speedway Children’s Charities. SCC strives to do this in collaboration with the non-profit organizations it supports nationwide. Individually, SCC’s local chapters identify the needs of children in their communities and award grants to organizations that address them. Last December, the Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities granted $275,000 to 78 local children’s causes during its annual grant distribution ceremony.
