Summer-Fun Camp Themes

Week 1: Creepy Crawlers (June 6-10) Find out what’s really bugging us here at the Springs Preserve. From the stink bug’s stench to the worm’s slime to the scorpion’s ultraviolet glow, we’ll dig into world of arthropods and discover the truth behind our creeping, crawling companions.

Week 2: Movie Magic (June 13-17) Lights! Camera! Action! Join us as we explore all the magic – and science – of Hollywood. What’s so special about special effects? Why do we eat popcorn at theaters? We’ll roll out the red carpet, dodge paparazzi and settle in for a week of all things silver screen.

Week 3: Dinosaurs: Prehistoric Predators (June 20-24) Not all dinosaurs were created equal. Join us for a teeth-gnashing adventure as we celebrate the most terrible of the terrible lizards: the carnivores! Claws, venom, spikes and teeth reign supreme in this dino-mite prehistoric adventure.

Week 4: Operation Alien (June 27-July 1) It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a UFO! Is there life out there or already among us? From Area 51’s history to the latest news from the surface of Mars, we’ll explore all things extra-terrestrial for an out of this world week of camp!

Week 5: Days! Days! Holidays! (July 4-8) We’ll be patriotic partying for the 4th of July Monday morning, but why stop there? With a different holiday every day there’s always something to celebrate at the Springs Preserve.

Week 6: Make It & Break It (July 11-15) Back by popular demand! There’s nothing more fun than building cool things…other than getting to smash those things when you’re done! Build catapults, drop eggs, see the cutting edge in alternative energy and spend a week that’s all about creativity and crushing.

Week 7: Time Travelers (July 18-22) Ever wanted to visit ancient Rome, explore medieval courts and castles or sneak up on ninjas? Then join us for this time-traveling adventure as each new day brings a fresh blast from the past.

Week 8: Rainforest Wonders (July 25-29) We’ll leave the dry desert behind to explore the amazing Amazon and the spectacle of rainforests. From the rainbow of animals to weird and wonderful plants, it’s a jungle out there!

Week 9: Under the Big Top (August 1-5) Step right up! Step right up! We’re not clowning around as we bring the circus to life this week. Camp becomes a carnival of crafts, games and science when you join us under the big top!

Week 10: Desert Adventures (August 8-12) From the days of the Wild West, to the bright lights of the big city, to surviving harsh Mojave extremes, we’ll explore everything unique about Las Vegas—past, present and future. It’s a wild ride out in the desert: Do you have what it takes?

Week 11: Once Upon a Time (August 15-19) This week’s camp is legendary – literally! Go back in time with legends like the Knights of the Round Table and fairy tales like Peter Pan, then get real-world as we explore the cool science and history behind them.

Week 12: Moving and Grooving (August 22-26) It’s the last week of summer and we’re ending with a bang. Dancing, stomping, running, smashing, yelling, singing, clanging, banging: We’ll move and groove it all out of our system!
