Summer’s a Breeze at Paradise; Recreation Center Offers Fun, Safe Summer for Kids

Kids enjoy summer, but it can oftentimes be a headache for parents who worry about where their kids are playing, who they are hanging out with and if they are being safe. Paradise Recreation Center’s Summer RecTrek Camp can soothe the worried minds of parents during the summer while providing a safe place for kids to create, explore and make new friends.

The camp is geared to children ages 6 to 12 and runs Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. from June 8 through Aug. 21 at the Paradise Recreation Center, 4775 McLeod Drive, near Eastern Avenue and Tropicana Avenue in southeast Las Vegas. Cost for the camp is $15 per day or $70 per week, per child. There is a 50 percent discount for the third child if enrolling three children from the same family for the entire week. Field trips also are offered for an additional fee. Financial assistance may be available for those who qualify through the Equal Opportunity Board (EOB).

Participants in camp will enjoy field trips, field day activities, guest speakers, themed days, playground free time, arts and crafts activities, cooperative sports, drama, movies and open swim time from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. All camp participants are required to pass a swim test prior to any swimming activities.

Early registration is encouraged as spots fill quickly.
