Superheroes and Vigilantes Unite to Combat Youth Homelessness in Southern Nevada at 10th Annual Homeless Youth in the Alley Bowling Tournaments
Gather your friends, family, and coworkers and join the nonprofit Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (NPHY) for a day of fun, food, prizes, and bowling for a cause for the 10th Annual Homeless Youth in the Alley Bowling Tournaments presented by Zappos and Expedia Group (Pictured: Caesars Entertainment team at 2018 HYA).

Homeless Youth in the Alley (HYA) will take place on Saturday, May 11 at the Suncoast Bowling Center, located at 9090 Alta Drive, with the mission to raise funds and spread awareness to combat the growing issue of youth homelessness in Southern Nevada. There are several ways for you to be a superhero for homeless youth and get involved in the fun event, with a superheroes-themed day tournament and vigilantes-themed night competition, and sponsorship, donation and volunteer opportunities.

The “Superheroes by Day” event will be 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and “Vigilantes by Night” will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Participants can enjoy family-friendly fun, unlimited bowling, food, giveaway items, raffle prizes, photo booth, awards and more during both sessions; the evening session also will feature a DJ and cosmic bowling. Themed costumes are encouraged.

At each session, teams of up to five people will compete for first, second and third place, with the top scoring team earning a life-size traveling trophy. Last year’s winners include teams from Zappos, Expedia Group, Tropicana, Southwest Gas and Sletten Construction, among others, who all will be coming back to defend their titles. In addition, teams will be recognized for best superhero and vigilante costume, best team name and most successful fundraiser.

Additional ways to help include a variety of sponsorship options, which provide sponsors with marketing opportunities, bowling teams, and more, starting at just $200. Other sponsors of the 10th Annual HYA Tournament include Sletten Construction, Robco Electric, Tropicana, Caesars Entertainment, Budding Ivey Foundation, Prism Medical Products, and more. Donation of in-kind services and raffle items also are needed. For these opportunities, contact Lanette Rivera at Lanette@nphy.org or (702) 688-1013.

“We are fortunate to have so many individuals and businesses who have made this event so popular over the last 10 years. It’s become a favorite event.  Our youth clients also have grown to love it – some who have never bowled before get to enjoy the day and see that so many people are coming to support them,” said Arash Ghafoori, executive director of NPHY. “It’s great to reflect on and celebrate these 10 years and the many who made it possible, such as Zappos and Expedia Group, this year’s Champion sponsors. Of course, we always need more partners and supporters. There are more than 15,000 homeless youth in Clark County schools, and sadly that number continues to grow. We urge everyone to get involved – whether by bowling, sponsorship or donation – and help us help these vulnerable youth with food, clothing, shelter and a path to self-sufficiency.”

Tickets are still available with prices starting at $25 per bowler or $125 per team of five. Registration includes unlimited bowling, food, refreshments, desserts, tournament swag bag, tournament souvenir and more. To register, visit www.nphy.org/hya or call NPHY at 702-383-1332.
