The Mob Museum Announces March Events
The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, has announced its unique programming for March.
- Wiseguy Speaker Series with Scott M. Deitche: The Mob’s Alive and Well in “Garden State Gangland,” Thursday, March 15, 7 p.m. The Mob’s presence has diminished in recent decades, but it is by no means gone. Deitche, an organized crime historian with roots in that history, covers the ongoing history of the New Jersey Mob from Prohibition to the present day. In this discussion, Deitche will cover topics such as the real story behind the TV series “Boardwalk Empire,” the mobster known as the “Al Capone of New Jersey,” the gangsters who inspired “The Sopranos” and Frank Sinatra’s alleged ties to New Jersey gangsters. This event is FREE for Members or with general admission.
- Book Signing with Scott M. Deitche, Author of “Garden State Gangland: The Rise of the Mob in New Jersey,” Friday, March 16, 1 – 3 p.m. Deitche’s book covers New Jersey’s dynamic Mob history, including powerful organized crime figures and gangs such as Willie Moretti, Phillip Testa, Gerardo Gatena and the DeCavalcante family. There is no charge to attend this signing, which takes place in the Museum’s retail store.
- Third Annual Active Shooter Preparedness Community Safety Forum, Sunday, March 18, 2 – 3 p.m. In partnership with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department this event will address the critical preparation the public must know to protect themselves when encountering an active shooter situation. Attendees will also gain a clearer understanding of law enforcement protocol and the profile of an active shooter. Registration is required here and admission to the event. Attendance to this important event is FREE and includes admission to the Museum, courtesy of NV Energy’s generous sponsorship.
